Happy Friday everyone! Homebrew pinball is on a roll. The homebrew section this year's Chicago Pinball Expo was absolutely amazing, it was probably the biggest section of the entire show. An all star group of members of the community just announced that they have formed a new venture - Pinforge, an LLC created to help make homebrew pinball more approachable with easy step-by-step instructions and open-source design files. The group's long-term goal is to host a collaborative community of homebrew people who design, build and share their own creations while lowering the barrier to entry for aspiring builders with a well-documented, open-source homebrew kit that can be replicated or rethemed. The group will conduct weekly streams as they collaborate and build a game together. Their goal is to build a few copies of this game that they can bring to Pinball Shows. They have created a Patreon where members can help influence the design, code, art, etc for the game. The team consists of: Aaron Davis (FAST) Alex Lobascio (Trogdor) Nick Morand (Turbo Time) Jeff Palmer (Crazy Quarters Arcade, Enigma) Kyle Reed (Harry Potter) Ernie Silverberg (Trident Pinball) Kyle Smet (Friday the 13th, Big Trouble in Little China) Below is the group's launch trailer and a link to its Facebook page, I can't wait to see what sort of amazing game these folks create! Pinforge on FacebookYesterday, Spooky Pinball shared an amazing video showing off its new "Spooky Speak Voice Interactive Pinball" technology with Kaneda's Pinball Podcast. In the video Spooky Bug literally has a conversation with Spooky's new Beetlejuice pinball machine, culminating in it starting a game after he said Beetlejuice for the third time. While you obviously don't get to see the machine in the video (the official launch is next Friday), the interaction is incredible. Click on the link below to check it out: Spooky Speak Demo
Earlier this week I wrote about how Barrels of Fun's latest game Winchester Mystery House is now available to play on location at On Tilt in Van Nuys, California. They recently streamed the game with its designer Karl Deangelo on YouTube. Check it out below:
