Dutch Pinball Exclusive Announces Title of Next Game; Alice Production Update
By knapparcade
Thanks to everyone who has reached out to me with news and pictures from Pinball Expo. The presentations have begun. At this year's Expo, I expected to hear new game announcements from two pinball manufacturers, the French manufacturer HEXA and Dutch Pinball Exclusive (DPX). DPX's Melvin Williams gave his presentation this morning. Several interesting news items came out of his talk. Most interestingly, he announced that DPX's next game will be the infamous John Popadiuk and Deeproot pinball game Retro Atomic Zombie Adventureland aka RAZA. Dutch Pinball Exclusive plans to produce 333 RAZA units. That's less than the 500 Alice's Adventures in Wonderland that it is committed to make. RAZA will have an interactive, animatronic topper that is sold separately from the game. Only people who order a topper when they order their game can get one. DPX has made a number of changes to the game's geometry, particularly pertaining to the ramps, and added magnets to make it shoot better than the Deeproot version of the game did. The machine will even sort of have the controversial interactive Pinbar screen that Deeproot had integrated to their machines' lockbars. The screen on DPX's RAZA will be on the game's apron instead of the lockbar and it will not be touchscreen. Players will use the flipper buttons to control it. Speaking of Alice, Melvin said that DPX is about halfway done with its production. They probably will not be done manufacturing the entire 500 unit run until the end of March. They are currently targeting the beginning of June for the start of RAZA production. Customers who have not received their game by January do have the right to cancel their order, however DPX announced a perk to entice people to stick with them. Anyone who has purchased and received an Alice game will be bumped to the front of the line for Dutch Pinball's next major game release, which is likely to be based on the iconic 1985 film Back to the Future. Melvin anticipated that game will be officially announced around the time of Pinball Expo 2026.
