Jersey Jack Pinball Interviews MinaLima; A New Team Member at Spooky Pinball & More
By knapparcade
Let's start this week off with some late-breaking news from Friday. Spooky Pinball has hired a good friend of mine, Brady Hearn, to do the sound for its next TWO pinball machines. Brady is a member of the New Jersey Arcade Collectors group that I hang out with. If you saw me at Pintastic New England then you most likely met him there because we drove up to the event together. He also contributed a great guest article to the Knapp Arcade website back in April (link below). Note to the Spooky folks, I talk to Brady all the time and I have to say he did an incredible job at keeping me in the dark about this lol. I didn't figure out that he was working on a pinball machine for you folks until I saw a picture on the Spooky Facebook page of Brady and Spooky Luke from Pinfest. I can't wait to see what Brady and the Spooky folks have in store for us late this year. Beetlejuice, perhaps? Congrats to Spooky and Brady! "We are proud to reveal a member of the Spooky Crew who has been diligently working behind the scenes. Please meet Composer and Sound Designer, Brady Hearn! As a composer, Brady has had music featured in over 120 television shows, including Dateline NBC, 20/20, Impractical Jokers, NFL, and UFC broadcasts! In sound design, he has worked closely with companies like NBC, Paramount, MTV, and VH1. Brady has put together some TOP NOTCH compositions for our next TWO game releases. Get ready to be immersed like never before!" The Mystery of Bouncer Arcade - Guest Contributor Article https://www.knapparcade.org/post/the-mystery-of-bouncer-arcade-guest-contributor-article
1,566 articles and counting... Over the weekend my sons and I put a lot of work in on the new website. At one point, I asked my oldest what would be involved in moving over the historical articles from this website to the new one. That's when he told me that the current Knapp Arcade website has 1565 articles on it. Whoa. That's a lot of pinball and arcade news.
This afternoon Jersey Jack Pinball shared a cool behind-the-scenes interview with the artists for the Collector's Edition of its new Harry Potter pinball machine, MinaLima. "Behind the magic, inside the art ✨ We had the pleasure of welcoming MinaLima to the factory for an exclusive look at how their incredible artwork transforms into the visual world of Harry Potter Pinball. From sketches to side armor, every detail matters. Bring the magic home today. Link in bio."

If you're in the NY, NJ, CT or even PA area there's a new pinball location that's definitely worth checking out. Located in Brooklyn, NY, the recently opened (a couple of months ago) Scrappleland was created by the owner of the famous Sunshine Laundromat. The arcade bar currently features a 39 pinball machines, including a number of Limited Edition games - which are unusual to see on location. I've been meaning to make another pinball trip into NYC one of these days. Any trip that I do take will start off with NYC's iconic Jackbar. From there, I'll likely head over to Scrappleland, Sunshine, a couple of breweries and maybe Barcade. Game of the Day: A rare 1983 Williams Star Rider sit-down LaserDisc futuristic motorcycle racing arcade game. The video game graphics of this game are played over a LaserDisc background. It was designed by Python Angehlo, who worked with a team of people to implement his ideas and the courses that he designed. Williams contracted with a company named Computer Creations to develop the final LaserDisc footage. According to an article by The Arcade Blogger, the development cost for Star Riders was just under $4 Million USD, four times the cost of any previous game that Williams had created. The game never caught on commercially. Eugene Jarvis is quoted as saying that all told it resulted in a loss of $50 Million USD for the Company. As seen in a private collection.
