Monsters Inc. Homebrew to Make Debut at Pinball Expo
By knapparcade
For the past several days, I've been talking about all of the cool stuff that's going to be at next week's Chicago Pinball Expo. Here's another one that you can add to the list of awesome things to check out. Ernie Silverberg, one of the biggest fans of Homebrew pinball there is, is going to bring his latest passion project to the show, a one-of-a-kind pinball machine based on the 2001 Pixar movie Monster's Inc. Ernie has been working on this game on and off for over a year and a half and you can tell that he used that time wisely to put a lot of cool stuff in it. One of the neater features is the "Upper Ramp MagnaRail," which is a magnetic wire form that the ball travels on bottom of to simulate the film's Door Conveyor System. The Door Conveyer features a whopping 13 doors that change left or right using the center orbit entrances on the main playfield. Other features include: - A Shooter Lane Ball Launch that Comes from the apron - Tons of shot combos - Internet connectivity using the new HEXA Pinball app Plungr - a system tracks each game, allows players to scan in their code and see their games (and high scores) in the app. - A Monster under the bed newton ball - And more... The game's layout was created by Ernie and the cool door mech was designed by Nick Morand. The game was coded by Ernie, Jim Henshaw, and Nick Taseris. Expo will be Monster Inc. pinball's public debut and will provide tons of playtesting to help perfect the game. Make sure to stop by the homebrew section of the show to check it out. Below are a short teaser trailer and several pictures of the game.
