Pedretti Gaming Officially Reveals Remake of Iconic Tales of the Arabian Nights Pinball Machine
By knapparcade
Let’s start the week off with a Bang! Moments ago, Pedretti Gaming, in partnership with Planetary Pinball Supply Inc. (PPS), officially revealed its new remake of Williams' 1996 pinball machine Tales of the Arabian Nights. I've been looking forward to this one because Tales of the Arabian Nights, or TOTAN as it is often referred to, is my wife's favorite pin. The game will be available in two versions, a 30th Anniversary Edition and a Legacy Edition. Pedretti made a point of saying they wanted to shrink the gap between editions so every buyer gets nearly all the good stuff. Both models ship with: - Both the original game code (1.0) AND the enhanced 1.5+ code. The original plays exactly like you remember. The 1.5 enhanced code preserves the soul of the game while adding new and colorized DMD display animations (colorization by artist Jay Powell), RGB lighting integration, quality-of-life tweaks, and known bug fixes. No gameplay rules were changed beyond stability fixes. - A large 21.5" HD LCD display - A full system of integrated RGB LED lightshows across the playfield, G.I., bumpers, apron, backbox, speakers, and sidebars - New immersive RGB touches including lighting in the Magic Lamp, internal lighting inside the Genie, GameSync RGB sidebars that react to gameplay, and an illuminated playfield back panel - Invisible Magic Glass, Infinite Mirror Side Rails, Glowing Stars Ramp LEDs, and the Glitter Gold Lamp - A Premium Sound System with GameSync Lighting RGB speakers, plus a shaker motor and upgraded Lamp and Genie toys - Scorbit integration and Wi-Fi software updates On the electronics side, Pedretti is now using the popular FAST Pinball platform, which should provide increased reliability, easier serviceability, better diagnostics, and long-term parts support. As I mentioned here several months ago when the deal was first announced, Pedretti has partnered with The team at Athyrio Games to program remake games going forward. Athyrio has extensive experience with this, having worked on the popular Chicago Gaming Company remakes of Medieval Madness and Attack from Mars in the past. In addition to the above, the 30th Anniversary Edition of the game features a completely reimagined, hand-drawn art package by Brian Allen — new cabinet art, playfield art, plastics, and translite. The cabinet gets distinctive "Purple Glitter" metal armor trims, and each machine includes a limited certificate and metal plaque. Limited to 399 units, the Anniversary Edition of the game is priced at $11,999 USD (before shipping and taxes). It comes with a 24 month warranty for electronics and 12 months for parts. The Legacy Edition is for folks who want the machine to look like the original game. It keeps the original 1996 art package and dresses up the cabinet with custom-painted "Night Sky" metallic armor. Faithful-to-the-original looks with modern guts underneath. Initial production of the Legacy Edition will be limited to 500 units in 2026 and will be priced at $10,999 USD (before shipping and taxes). It includes a 12 month warranty for electronics and 6 months for parts. Pedretti says there are no additional Legacy runs planned or scheduled right now, though they're not ruling out building more in the future. Games can be ordered through Pedretti Gaming distributors, like my friend and Knapp Arcade sponsor Joe Newhart at PinballSTAR Amusements Sales@PinballSTAR.com .
